  The 5% explored number is not exactly true, in 2001 scientists mapped about 5% of U.S. ocean territories using high-resolution sonar from ships. Over the years ppl dropped the U.S. and the sonar stuff. We've actually got a map of the whole ocean floor, while not accurate but its there, as you see in the video it say about 30% of the ocean floor is mapped using high res sonars. A human physically seeing something with their own eyes have only seen about 0.001% of the ocean.

(from experience)
