Thank you for raising awareness!!! Such an important topic and you are brave for taking a stand, especially for the communities that cannot advocate for themselves necessarily!

I had to pretend to be well and go to school because my high school wouldn't let me graduate if I missed more than 12 days in a year - I later turned out to have migraine, among other things (long story, greatly shortened for clarity) ...

I don't have pots but orthostatic hypotension (in short my pressure drops if I stand up too fast or stand too long and can, lead to general discomfort, nausea or even fainting). However I went in for pots. Pots can absolutely be diagnosed using an objective test and "proven" whatever that means and the test sucks ass. My dad suffers from the same condition as me and I told him he could really benefit from being on meds but he'd have to get a head up tilt test too and after being with me for mine he went: "Oh hell no!". I was nearly dying there with a crazy raging headache from meds that the following day I almost fainted. They literally trigger your body by having you strapped standing to a table and give you a spray of nitroglycerine to forcefully expand your blood vessels to see how your body reacts and my pressure went from 100/70 ro 90/60 in seconds and it made me feel out of it for the rest of my day. I wanted to die afterwards.
Edit: it is not some brand new wowo thing as my dad's grandfather also had pressure issues and my dad was born in 1961 and a lot of his family has pressure problems.

It's important to acknowledge the blatant transphobia in the article and how the article reuses transphobic talking points as ablest ones.

as someone with AuDHD I have come to terms that I have never been and never will be cool
somehow that makes me very popular in alot of alt communities, not sure if that kind of negates this first statement

anyways, talking about disabilities of any kind on youtube, documentaries and therelike really made me feel so much better about myself, making me feel less broken and made me feel like I am not alone
I'd wished I was surprised by this article but it's just classic allistic people not knowing anything about disability

ADHD people are only disabled in the modern neoliberal economy. They would have been completely fine in 1945. No one would have known there was anything wrong with them. The modern world highlights these previously invisible disabilities because fewer and fewer people are able to participate in it.
