Pritam Singh as Singapore's opposition leader in contrast to our opposition leader is like heaven and earth . He is tactical, calm and collected , knows to answer in the best way possible without incite anyone, showcases WP core strategy and strength. While Malaysians always brought out the question "who's the Pm candidate from opposition?" while Pritam calmly said Pm candidacy is not his main objective

This was what I posted in an earlier KJ episode (EP3 Kena Soal series) and I'm repeating it here, not just being lazy (which I am) but more importantly my views on the subject do not change, so here goes:

My Bahasa is not where it should be so I can only read the English captions and also comment accordingly as well.

Great of you to speak on the elections in Singapore. I feel that all your points are spot-on but am guessing that with your personal relationships with the Establishment across the Causeway, the two of you chose to be very diplomatic, perhaps overly so. I have no such qualms so here goes.

Singaporeans take the concept of risk-aversion to a head-spinning, stomach-churning level and it’s not just about elections, you can see it daily whenever someone with a modicum of authority has to exercise a choice. He will rely on the “safest” (from the perspective of his self-interest in not disturbing a tranquil painting or be perceived to be doing so) formula regardless of the prospect that the outcome may be counter-productive, even ridiculous. That is the Singaporean for you.

As for the compliment regarding intellectual capacity, I would caution against confusing a formal education at a brand-name school with intellect; all that PISA-topping scores and high Ivy League/Oxbridge penetration has failed miserably to translate into any world/region-beating innovation, in any field, so what does that tell you?

Add to this the sense of superiority over their neighbors, and also a siege mentality (targeted mainly at you know who) that everyone in its backyard is not only backwards but are also seething with ill-will. This combination then plays to the PAP’s core message that they and only they can keep the country from harm. Pile on the Trump bogeymen and viola, vote against us and you will perish.

As an aside it’s interesting that for all their claimed prescience, the PAP milked dry every ounce of globalization and imported migrants, knowing full well that it’s a matter of time (if not Trump it will be somebody else) that the ole world order will soon unwind; laughably they did nothing to prepare the country for the events of today and still say that they are the safest pairs of hands around.

So there you go. I just saved you from the need to do an episode on the same topic again come the next election in Singapore. It will be the same old same old. Rome took a long time to unravel, and frogs don’t realize that they are being boiled alive.

Dear KJ and Shahril, today's episode was one of the best episodes on KS. Thank you for bringing Mr. Pritam, who is in my regard is a tall and aspirational figure in Singaporean politics. His role as an opposition leader has been exceptional and their hold in Aljunied is a testament of how well they're serving their constituents. I wish Mr. Pritam all the very best in continuing and realizing his vision, not just for a greater Singapore, but also for a greater collective ASEAN future. As a Malaysian, I would like to say, keep up the good work, we need more thought-provoking podcasts like this which knowing or unknowingly increases the level of thought of the viewers.
