OC class is not necessarily better for the kids since they have to change schools, but tutoring is pretty much necessary to have a decent chance of getting into a selective school(unless you have a source of past papers)<br>The choice for middle class Asian families is :-<br>A. Get into selective school<br>B. Pay through the nose for 2nd tier private school<br>C. Move into catchment for a decent public school.<br>D. Tough it out in your local lower-ranked public school, stay in tutoring and keep trying for selective school every year.<br><br>Feeling inferiority complex in a private school is real - we have friends who drive a BMW who feel ashamed of their car because it’s a cheaper model. I didn't know educational system in Sydney was that hard!<br>When I lived in Sydney,the primary school I went,I didn't feel any pressure at all so I've thought educational system in Sydney was easy going.<br>I got transferred to a national primary school in Tokyo after I moved to Japan,I think it's like a selective school in Japan,almost all the kids were from a rich family and my household was the sole poor one I guess,and that was traumatic to me.
