Corporate America is what killed the US economy, It started with moving our factories out of the USA, than when they allowed CEO's and other executives to start taking Stock options instead of a salary.
This changed their whole outlook on how to run a business instead of caring about the company's growth, the customer or the employees they were hyper-focused on raising the STOCK value of the
company giving themselves HUGE paydays.

Boomer here. What was removed from public schools was teaching critical thinking, problem solving; and That’s ALL life is. So today’s youth were de- ‘educated’ to be cattle in a Global online consumer trough.

It wasn't just the boomers - it was IGNORANCE AND GREED by all ages. IF you become GREEDY you may become NEEDY!

I am 65 - retiring this year. I worked my tail off, paid for my own college, got a viable science degree, lived frugally, no debt, saved for my retirement and contribute in a major way in outreach and influencing youth. I look at the generations after - they are even more self absorbed, fixated on video games, reality tv, appearance and social media. If the boomers are having issues the next generations feel totally entitled expect everything free and most people never work hard to lift themself up. They lack culture and values. Gen X Gen Z Millenials - getting a useless degree, going way in debt for school and thinking you deserve a $100k job straight out of school - they don’t live in reality. Thank God my 2 kids carried forward key values

A quote I heard thirty years ago, "Times are hard, but times were always hard, it's what you make of them."

I graduated from college into a recession and now I’m retiring into a recession/depression/stagflation and possibly a civil war. When I graduated, it took about four years before I could find a decent, stable good paying job. So what’s happening now feels very familiar to me. The one big difference I can see is the amount of student loan debt that the younger generations have. I feel like it’s become a national emergency that we have to deal with. And I’m not one that believes too bad, not my problem, pay your debts, etc. We didn’t tell Chase, Bank of America and Citicorp to go figure it out in 2008-2009. We shouldn’t tell our citizens that also. I don’t denigrate the young people who are in this mess, that doesn’t help anyone.

Corporations and wealthy people never invest money in their employees. Instead, they used that money to send our jobs overseas and build factories in China where people worked 12 hour days for a dollar an hour. Their profits soared, while American workers lost good paying jobs and paid more and more taxes to make up for the taxes the wealthy WEREN’T paying. Trickle down economics has always been total bullshit!

Boomer here. My parents bought their home in Monterey, California for $11,000. It took them 30 years to pay it off. We grew up with one car. We lived frugally like other families in town. Life was so much simpler then. It’s all relative.

Boomer here and I hope that a few of you will listen and "LEARN." The oldest game in history is being played on ALL of us, and it's called "Divide (Poor) and Conquer (Rich)." It's worked like a charm for thousands of years. The rich keeps getting richer and the poor keeps getting poorer and it doesn't matter what generation you are. Boomers are passing down wealth to our children (Millenniums), so within the next ten years they'll be the richest. So, who do you blame then? Finally, it doesn't matter what government is in charge rather Capitalism, Socialism, Fascist, Monarchy, there will always be "Rich and Poor."

Boomer here. Boomers just hit the lottery when it came to timing. People were not speculating on real estate when they bought their first home. College was cheap because the government would only allow you to borrow $2500 annually. I paid $500 to attend a California university. In 1969, you could buy a home in Encino, California for $35K. The dollar was backed by gold at $35. an ounce. 1971, Nixon took us off the gold standard. All money became fiat currency. We've have had 50+ years of inflation and printing of paper money. Now, everyone is trying to figure out what assets will retain value and increase in value. Its all a gamble.

I retired last year after working 46 years full time with the same company.
I worked 4 years full and part time at other jobs before that. When we bought our first house, the interest rate was 13%. It hasn't been easy for some of us boomers either.
