  To all of the other 70+ yr old folks here, isn't it fantastic seeing all of these younger people hearing, what was essentially the soundtrack of our own youth,, and I suspect, not just hearing it, but feeling it the way we did,, pretty freaking cool,, ❤❤❤ (and they're just scratching the surface 😂😂)

  Arguably the Rolling Stones finest work. The woman's name singing is Mary Clayton who was home, pregnant and about to go to bed when the phone rings and is told a English rock band would like to have her come over to the recording studio and sing something. She puts a long coat over her pajamas(because it'smidnight), and goes to the studio and in 2 takes nails it and is out of there. Unreal❤

  That part when Merry Clayton's voice cracks during her solo always gives me chills because it not only shows the energy she put into her performance, but to me it really conveys the heartbreaking anguish people felt in the tumultuous years of Vietnam.

  75-year-old here. I consider this is the definitive Rock and Roll tune. Others come close, but don't have the raw forward drive it has. Thank you. Love seeing the young'ns get into the songs of my turbulent youth.

  Let It Bleed is an incredible Album. Shout out as well to Merry Clayton the female vocalist here as well as the late Charlie Watts for amazing drum work.

  I've listened to this song for 50+ and it never fails to give me chills. For my money the greatest rock song ever recorded.

  The female vocalist was studio musician Merry Clayton. The Stones producer called her in the middle of the night, got her out of bed to sing the part. She was pregnant and showed up in curlers,  silk pajamas, and a mink coat and blew the doors off. Mick loved her so much he later let her record the song on her own album without royalties. She's on YouTube.
