You are honestly a carbon copy of me. I have the same tools that you have. I also bought a Chinese gear lathe and had to machine my quick change tool post to fit. The only difference is that I made my tool post holder in one piece. It makes me mad that there's a demand for hobiest lathes, but besides China, no one makes them.

When cutting threads, it helps to put a chamfer on the end of the bar.

I have made modifications to my alg320 adding dc braking and a foot pedal to mimic larger lathes along with a dro and a guide for the tailstock to ride along the v way preventing side to side movement.<br><br>Thanks for the link to the QCTP.
