  As a Search & Rescue worker, I'd stress making clear sign of your direction of travel. Many times we have found an abandoned vehicle, then have to begin the next stage of the search.

  One thing ive added to my trunk to toss in a bag is a cheap reflectivd high-vis vest. If im broke down on a shoulder or trying to be noticed a vest is a huge benefit. If you&apos;ve ever driven up on someone flagging you down in pitch black with only a phone light, there&apos;s practically no depth perception looking at the pedestrian until your headlights hit

  I would also recommend always having a cheap pair of sandals or flip-flops on hand. Just something to slide on and off when you get up and use the bathroom in the middle of the night or being able to walk around your camp while your feet are airing out.

  Dave canterbury get stuck in the woods. 2 weeks later they find him living in a self built cabin smoking a venison brisket. Looking for iron to forge into car parts to repair his vehicle

  A couple contractor bags. &nbsp;Tea, freeze-dried coffee, and powdered soup like Cream of Chicken Cup o Soup. &nbsp;A hot beverage in the cold is reassuring. &nbsp;The soup will also have salts your body needs. &nbsp;Electrolyte powder. &nbsp;<br><br>You forgot TP. It doesn&apos;t go bad.

  As a delivery driver, I seriously considered carrying a folding bike to get me home in event of an EMP. I do carry a small backpack with dog repellent and a .38 snub as well as basic food/hydration/fire/shelter items.

  The merino wool base layers, cap and socks are often overlooked, yet can be a life saver when trying to get and stay warm without a fire. That little base layer kit ranks right up there with my Grayl, poncho and knife as the core or my gear. <br>Great video Dave!

  First aid kit doesn&apos;t have eye flush, one of the most common issues.

  Had to do this once. &nbsp;Cross country bushwhacked over 7 miles to a lonesome highway gas station because it would have been an extra 4 miles or so if i went back on the road i came in on. &nbsp;I got to the store 5 minutes before it closed and would have had to walk another 15 miles to the next place, but was able to use their landline phone (this was back before cellphones had service everywhere). &nbsp;It was in Colorado, elevation was about 7500 feet, it was cooking hot and would have gotten down in the 40&apos;s that night which is deadly if you&apos;re not prepared for it...Lessons...make sure you&apos;re in excellent long distance walking shape. &nbsp;Make sure you have plenty of water. &nbsp;If not in good shape, make sure someone knows where you&apos;re at and that you have a satellite communicator or that you know you will have cell service where you&apos;re going (i live in an area that still does not have cell service in large swaths of country that i recreate in) and make sure you have a power bank to recharge your communication devices. &nbsp; I was on a search and rescue once where someone that was lost sadly didn&apos;t make it because their cell phone died and they decided to take some very drastic measures to get out and they died. &nbsp;Make sure you have a backup power source at all times, and don&apos;t forget that your jump starting pack is also a phone charger. &nbsp;Basically, if at all possible, &apos;&apos;never get off the boat.&apos;&apos;
