"China markers"write on almost anything and withstand water and some sun. Laundry workers use them to mark tags before washing fabric. They are sold at stationary stores for sure. They have a little string you pull to sharpen them. Note only pull a tiny bit of string down or the head will be long and brake off. Excellent for gardens or children learning to write on clear sheets (report covers over a practice page. The clear sheets wipe off with a bit of cloth or tissue.

Cheshire England I like the poles…. So mine to you… use toilet rolls to plant seeds especially carrots cardboard extra worm fodder and keeps the carrots straight in soil.

Thank you so much! I'm in Marion County, Oregon which is a lovely place to garden. I don't know why I never thought of the jar idea for tender seedlings. Brilliant and I will definitely try that next Spring.

Old junk natural rugs tossed out. Woven Cotton rugs will eventually rot and allow roots to grow past the rug. Used stores or on the side of the road.
