Everyone who was paying attention to the Barrels of Fun Reserve program could see the release coming soon. Because they closed the Reserve on Friday, and the following Tuesday they announced Bon Jovi. When Barrels first announced the Reserve program, everyone pretty much knew that not long after they closed it to new members, a new game release was going to be announced soon thereafter. Everything pretty much played out as anticipated, and it had nothing to do with any other manufacturer.

I don’t think it’s shady. They were both targeting different expos on the same weekend. Barrels Reserve was based on first week sales. I’d expect all future announcements within a week of big shows.

I was at sfge with 2 homebrews, and Bon Jovi had long lines Saturday and Sunday. I played it, and its a fantastic shooter, not a theme for me, but great shooter.
The art however i thought was really bad. But as a game, barrels did their job, and built a banger.
Honestly, band themes are not for me even if i like the band.

From the earliest rumors, I was hoping DCC would be on the P3. I can’t imagine any other manufacturer doing justice to 7 books in one machine and making them feel sufficiently different from each other, with dynamic playfield art for each, etc. like 7 machines in one. Plus the P3 can do the perfect interfaces for spells, inventory, boss fights, etc.
I’m also a big fan of the Ender’s Game books and love the light shows in that machine, it is an amazing look.
But I put a down payment on a DCC as soon as the announcement came out.
I was happy to hear Gerry saying that they’re still negotiating in the hope of allowing the games to run cross-module. I hope that’ll happen, although I expect it’ll have to be at the high end of “mini-game” software pricing to meet the licensing overhead.
I can’t wait!
