That’s an awesome shop at the beginning. You can’t overstate the value of quality raw materials. I realized that I wanted to build guitars when I was 12. My family was in the wooden boat business. Mostly Columbia Bar trawlers, which are mostly steel vessels built in factories now.
My Grandfather taught me to build a wood library and how to harvest, season and select for each part; how to see the potential in a raw piece of lumber and bring it out through milling and conditioning. That’s been some 40 years ago. Currently I have a pole barn which houses 8 sheds which are all individually climate controlled, housing everything I’ll need to build guitars, mandolins, violins, cellos and basses for the rest of my working years.
Most people don’t get that there’s an entire ecosystem that goes into a guitar.

I really like how you used the leftover pieces of the guitar body throughout the build, amazing work!

Very clever tooling. I think I'll have to steal some of your ideas. Thx for sharing this great build.

Thank you for documenting all of this. This video helped me to get by with my day! You were so precise and careful with every detail. You remind me of my grand father who said many times; if you are going to do something, do it right.
