  BTW, think the best upgrade that you could give any 80 series with a five speed would be a sixth gear,<br><br>That would be a far better option than the alternative that some people go to which is a taller diff, but that hasnotable negatives in stiff off-road going.<br><br>If anybody could find or create a six speed gearbox that hooked up to the original transfer case they would probably sell like hotcakes!

  I&apos;m finding there&apos;s tons of builds and information on the FTE but not as much on the FT. I personally prefer mechanical for it&apos;s simplicity and reliability and being able to diagnose and fix issues myself cost effectively. Be nice to know if there was a kit or standard of upgrading to get around 300hp out of a FT as well. I&apos;m assuming you can with similar parts and obviously the tuning is done differently but it would be good to hear it from an experienced tuner

  I’d like to hear a little bit more about the reliability of componentry after essentially doubling the horsepower.<br><br>If you give it enough power, you can launch the Queen Mary into space, but the issue here is not so much what you can get out of the engine but how the driveline handles the extra power and the inevitable extra abuse especially when fully loaded and the driver is still sticking the welly into it simply because he can.<br><br>The inevitable flow on of course are into clutch universal joints, CV joints and diffs, and potentially feed into more twisting forces on suspension componentry. <br><br>I’ve driven my 1997 80 series 4500 Twin cam petrol since new and it has never put a foot &nbsp;or quit - ever. <br><br>Use has been a mix of urban, professional bush work and long distance touring with what would be described by most people as moderate loads, mostly fuel and water.<br><br>This is because I choose to travel light without all the crap that most people shoehorn into their vehicles for such journeys. <br><br>As far as I’m concerned if it doesn’t fit inside the car, then it doesn’t come with me. No roof rack and no towing, although it has a towbar.<br><br>Sadly, while many of the conversions that I have seen have been done well and the cars have been treated properly. <br><br>But it’s sad to see so many 80 series being bought relatively cheap and probably already neglected by previous owners, only to be further savaged by idjits jacking them up, sticking fat tyres on, putting fishing rod holders on them and taking them down the beach where they end up rusting to death. <br><br>The 80 series represents a model that is worth preserving and not flogging to death, so while I am as interested as the next bloke in healthy modifications and a modest power uplift, ultimately my advice is to manage it all with the ultimate consideration for the vehicle, which will return good &nbsp;care in spades.

  Hi Hayden. What is the power limit for the automatics before you need a transmission VB upgrade? Mine is a 2000 100 series with a442f transmission.<br>Also, can you tune these vehicle remotely? I&apos;d like to get some upgrades but I don&apos;t live in Australia.
