I use paraffin oil to blend my crayons. It makes them blend almost like paint.

How dare you dump out all of those crayons and then withhold the rainbow organization footage 😂

Modern crayons are much waxier and less pigmented  than they were when I was younger.

I think this is my favorite medium used in all of the heads series I’ve seen. I saw crayon, and thought you’d use an artist crayon like a Neocolor 1, but the fact that you used ordinary Crayola crayons and achieved this level of artistic excellence is amazing.

It’s not the tools but the artist. WOW you’re insanely talented!! 😮

When I was a kid, around 2nd grade, I came up with this crayon technique that I would use when I’d color … I’d layer colors and color in till I’d have almost to no white showing of the paper, then I’d have three “tools” I’d use to scrape away, blend and tease away at my colors…I’m not sure what to call it, but I can still do it lol… my tools were the end of my pencil, with the eraser pulled out, no cheap pencil…the ferrule had to have a nice edge with no sharp edge or burrs, a bic pen, the clear type, with the cap that has a whole … I’d pull out the ink from the pen, the cap and clear pen receptacle… I’d use the ferrule for my heaviest scraping, being careful not to tear my paper. The tip of the pen cap was a more fine tipped blender and scraper, and the clear part of the pen, when you rub it on the crayon, would get warm and kind of melt the crayon and give it darker color. I really thought I was a true artist by 4th grade lol

You'd be popular in in class in 90s with that crayon sharpener.

Everyone here needs to look up Lee Hammond!! She’s been drawing portraits in Crayola since the early 2000s and she wrote a book about it! I own it but never really got into using crayons.

I’ve always loved crayons! I once had a boyfriend’s mom give me a box of crayons for Christmas. It was intended to be a jab at me…her smirk faded at my enjoyment. It had a pack of limited edition colors!🎉

Remember, crayons like colored pencils are wax based.  So, you can blend crayons, but because of their higher wax base to color ratio and the dull tips the color really sits on top of the surface while the wax fills the tooth depending upon the pressure as you stated one uses.  Overall, Great performance with the crayons!
