Watching you tweak synths is like watching a pilot do pre flight checks. Outstanding!!

The #1 mistake today is buying more synthesizers before understanding the one you have and ending up in a analysis paralysis, cognitive overload and tech fatigue. Learn to master one so you automatically end up with the tools to master the next one.

One of my favorite ARP2600 tricks was to add a little portamento to the sound. Then run the CV through the Lag Processor. The output of the Lag Processor goes to 1 of the OSC CV input. It's like having 2 different portamentos. Adjust them so they aren't exactly in time with each other. When I sold my ARP Quadra, I was wanting to replicate it's dual portamento feature on my 2600. Worked great.

Number 6 - buying countless synths and not making music with them.

Anthony, I appreciate that you present and talk about synths as expressive musical instruments, instead of products of engineering. I don’t care about the paint brush as much as I care about what it helps create. I think that back in the early days of synths in popular music there were some players who treated something like the Minimoog as a funny sounding monophonic organ. They’d get a sound and that sound would remain static throughout the song. It IS important to approach the instrument by making dynamic changes for expression. A filter sweep here, tweaking the envelope there, sweeping a synced oscillator, having a filter close slightly as volume changes, etc. The point of music is to evoke feelings and that is hard to do if we don’t use dynamic expression. <br>Thanks for your work.

I have been playing and programming Synthesizers since 1971 with my first ARP 2600. Your list of 5 are the things I have been telling newbies to Synths for decades. Nicely done

Navigating that ARP like it's breathing. Programming professionally during the days of little-to-no patch recall. This channel's the best.

turning knobs without knowing what they do, is the best thing ever. I lost that art 20 years ago. Ofcourse you are more precise and straight forward, when you know what you do.. but I miss the good old, have no clue what I am doing, but it is fun. :D
