Discord is the very 'concept' of chaos, he was born from chaos much like the windigos that appear during disharmony and conflict.

It may be fate. Like when Luna was banished a lot of pony’s like sunset, moon dancer, starlight, twilight, star tracker were born. These could also an attempt to bring sun, twilight, night into existence. So at the time they needed a bad guy to complete the harmony. You can’t have good without evil. (Edit) also grogar is the father of monsters.

I just realized I kinda relate to Discord
-I have separation anxiety
-I like to watch videos that have chaotic moments
-if I could I would create cotton candy clouds (only difference is I would eat them in 2 seconds)
-when I play video games I always add something random to the character I'm making like extra arms or a tail

Considering discord can make a volcano appear out of nowhere in a millisecond or warp reality just as fast can’t be compared to any other villain. He is a god. I highly doubt any villain could do such things. He could even have more power but thanks to the age range of the show be was dumbed down. Even bill cipher can’t do a quarter of what Discord can do. Discord is unmatched by 99.99% of all villains.

I found a plot hole in MLP. If starswirl left before luna and celestia became rulers of equestria. Then how does scorpan meet starswirl and go to luna and celestia to defat tierek in the first place

What if Starswirl knew that he would plant a seed that would grow into the tree of harmony? He may have known about the yin Yang cycle and created discord on purpose!

The IDW comics are an important clue to Discord's background, which is ignored here. According to the writers behind the comics - which remain canon as long as they do not contradict the TV series - Discord had wandered from realm to realm for a long time, offering his service to kings and princesses who knew him. As an immortal being with chaotic powers, he gained the attention of those in power who either hired him or made deals with him, such as King Vorak, Tirek's father.

But the evidence is that Discord was not that strong until he invaded Equestria with a new force that took the rulers of all realms by surprise. My headcanon is that it happened after Discord learned how to create/open a chaotic dimension and achieved omnipotent powers. Chaos completely overtook Discord, which became a serious threat that forced the royal siblings to stop him with the help of the elemental stones that contained harmony magic. He had become beyond self-control, chaos had completely taken over. But Celestia released him because with the elemental stones it was possible to keep him under control until he got a certain balance. As Fluttershy ensured with her kindness and shyness. She discovered that Discord never had real friends because of his powers that marked his character. He was simply too unstable so that kings either kept him under tight control or just wanted to kill him. With friendship it became possible for Discord to control himself, although his chaotic mindlessness remained a problem. Even after Fluttershy's death, Discord had ceased to pose a threat to the surroundings.

In S8 it was discovered that these chimerical creatures - both intelligent beings and monsters - could not have arisen naturally, they had been created. The answer to this came when Discord who had disguised himself as Grogar. Sombra explained that Grogar was the father of monsters, the very origin of the most monstrous creatures - which Tirek did not contradict. Discord was able to successfully impersonate Grogar for villians who knew the details of the mysterious villain. This then suggests that Discord knew Grogar. Personally.

It then becomes clear that Discord could have been created by Grogar as his masterpiece, an instrument to control Chaos itself. We don't know much about him and his reign, but from G1 there are hints, and elsewhere in G4 we know that he had ruled over the ponies with great brutality - so they forgot about him because it was a dark time. When Gusty the Great raised a unicorn army, a war broke out that may have been one of the darkest in the entire history of the magical world. In G5, Grogar's army, the Troggles, appeared as ghosts. It is possible that Grogar created Discord while the war was going on. But the young chimera may have fled when Gusty and Grogar finally met in battle.

What happened to Grogar, no one knows. But Discord may have gone away and then wandered around for perhaps centuries, until he returned to Equestria and met the royal siblings.
