In the book Artyom is told to stare into the eyes of the librarians and be completely still. Not only do they ignore him, but this works in the game as well.

1:23:39 it was never stated in the games, but Artyom have a large fear of rats.
Right before bombs fell he and his mother was strolling in Botanic gardens, and evacuated they in the metro station near gardens, but soon after a giant wave of tunnel rats came out from the depths of the metro, practically flooded station eating everything. Artyom saw how his mother was eaten alive by rats, while former soldier that was stationed at the station took him to the Exhibition. That soldier was Artyom’s step-dad. After these events Artyom would often try to go out to the surface near gardens because it was last good memory about his mother.
And that’s exactly how Artyom met Black Ones.

Metro has perfect ludonarrative harmony.
Only someone who spared all of his enemies, listened to every perspective, helped anyone he could, payed attention to each story even those who already died. Only someone like that would understand the dark ones.
If you shoot everything that moves you're not the kind of person who would see the light in the dark.
You have to not just earn the good ending but also LIVE IT.

Another real fun way to play both 2033 and Last light is in a guerrilla warfare style manner. I like to sneak and poke around to see where all my enemies are and their patrol patterns and then come up with a way to quickly pick people off while using the least amount of gear as possible. I can’t describe how satisfying it is to watch the AI shoot into random shadows and all that shooting slowly start to grow more and more quiet

10:03 love the little dialogue "PLEASE, GIVE HIM A CHANCE" because Arty saved dude's life by shooting the rats and it would be heart wrenching to watch the guy who saved your life get killed by the that

This is gonna sound incredibly stupid, but these games genuinely managed to stop my bag from getting searched at the border when I was on my way home from a trip at one point last year.

For whatever reason we got selected for a random search, which normally would've been fine, but was a freaking nightmare for me in this particular instance, as I'd actually bought some stuff for my brother, who was standing right next to me at the time, while we we're away, as his birthday was coming up, and I was pretty much panicking, since I now had to try to come up with any desperate plan to stop him from seeing, while y'know, also not making the security guy think I was hiding narcotics or something. Out of nowhere though, the guy searching our bags asked us if we played any videogames, which my brother then replied to by bringing up Exodus, as he was about midway through it at the time. Anyway, long story short, the guy doing the search had actually read all the books and genuinely took enough of a liking to us after that, that he gave up searching after the first bag, went "Alright well like, you guys seem friendly enough, and I doubt I'm gonna find anything if I keep looking, so you can head off now, sorry for the inconvenience." and I narrowly avoided having all my stuff dumped out for everyone to see.

Still haven't actually played the games myself (although i probably will soon enough), but like, they saved my brother's birthday surprise, so I sure am glad they exist nevertheless~

Something I love about the first Metro game, is that the bad ending is the canon ending. When games give you multiple endings, I would love if more games made the bad ending the canon ending.

In the first game, I found the night vision in the chapter with the Reich and the Reds figth . It's right at the start of the chapter behind you , on a table near a juggernaut and a soldier on the right side of the wall .

In the first game the "morality system" is not actually such, and you can kill all mutants and all bandits and Nazis and still get the good ending.
