  Three days ago, I pulled up YouTube to watch while eating my dinner. This video was recommended so I clicked it. Halfway through, I typed &quot;Wii U&quot; into Facebook marketplace just for fun. First thing to pop up was a Zelda edition Wii U only 10 minutes away from me.Two days later (yesterday) it became mine :D But, just like your college situation, I&apos;m a PhD student and my prelim exam is one week away (biggest exam of my life)- so I have to wait to play it :( &nbsp;What an exciting journey!

  If you buy a simple Wii U and do nothing with it it&apos;s not worth it. If you mod it you get access to lost content and only exclusives that work on Wii U. I&apos;ve had a Wii U since 2014 and though I have games that are still exclusive mainly being the Zelda HD remasters there&apos;s eShop content that I want to experience so I&apos;ll be modding my console soon

  For context, the reason it wants you to be connected to WiFi during a factory reset is because NNIDs are hard-linked to a single Wii U. Once you link the account to a Wii U you can’t link it to another one until you remove the NNID from the first. When you factory reset the Wii U, it removes all the local data including the linked NNIDs. But the servers also need to know about this, so that they can unlink the NNID on their side and let it get linked to a new console in the future. If the console didn’t tell the server that the NNID was getting unlinked during a factory reset, then that NNID would essentially be bricked

  I own a Wii U too! You mentioning unfixable disc errors was very relatable. It brought me back to when I was younger and had a physical copy of Mario Kart 8 that suddenly stopped working. I&apos;m convinced this problem is exclusive to the Wii U, as I own the Gamecube and Wii with zero issues.

  Next Step: Try out some Homebrew! One of my favoriete things with Wii U/3DS is reviving the Nintendo Network, including things like Miiverse.
