The Scag Tiger Cat 2 doesn’t use the ZT2800 trans axle. It uses separate wheel motors and pumps.

You're wrong about not turning these into serviceable units. Once my warranty expired, I drilled and tapped my Hydro Gear units for drain plugs and now service them annually by draining and refilling with fresh hydro fluid. I'm on my 11th year and just under 500 hours.

I like your lineup! In 2016, I looked at the market, and it came down to Farris and SCAG! I like springs! Farris won out with the IS700Z, 61 in., 24 hp KW, fab deck! Today, and 10 years later, it's still on the job! Back then, I wanted a Briggs, but the owner told me the Briggs had seal problems, so KW was it! I'm not looking to buy anytime soon; good info! Thanks!

Briggs & Stratton filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, located at the Thomas F. Eagleton United States Courthouse in St. Louis (111 South 10th Street).
The case was handled before Judge Kathy A. Surratt-States in the Eastern Division. Ferris Mowers was affected as part of that filing, since Ferris is owned by Briggs & Stratton Ferris was retained as the Briggs & Stratton Flagship line. Victa mowers also owned by Briggs & Stratton are completely different from Ferris.
Victa builds standard residential push and walk-behind mowers primarily for the Australian market, powered by small Briggs & Stratton engines.Ferris, by contrast, manufactures heavy-duty commercial zero-turn and stand-on riding mowers with full suspension systems built for high-speed, all-day mowing.

You missed the Country Clipper out of Corydon, IA, built by a family. The only one with a joy stick, I love mine...

It wasn't meant for commercial trucks with men who just ran and/or abused a machine. I owned a Kubota ZG-23, 54" mower at the time I thought beat everything that was out there, hands down.
It was not a bulldozer, it was a machine designed for someone who took care of their equipment and it never let the owner down. It ran with one engine., a Kohler for 20 years. Replaced the engine in off season 21/22 (I was in the NY). It was like cutting with a lazer. Fast enough, heavy enough, clean lines, protected engine compartment, not an engine bolted to a frame afterthought like so many at that time looked like.
It's closet competitor at the time was the Walker, but the deck, catcher and center of gravity made that a no go.
It was the smoothest, relatively quiet comparted to Exmark's or Scaggs.
An absolute gem of a machine to work on. Deck slide right out, axle simple to reinstall. The one and only defect was the circular height adjustment mechanism. The height bar and circular wheel was the flaw. I went around it with a little welding of my own.
But overall, simply the most enjoyable machine to work on year in and year out. Needed welding to the seat metal base do to cracks around year 18 of ownership and several operators (one a good deal heavier than me) rode that machine, that was it.
