  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65QIvC8-kTo&amp;t=1097">18:17</a> for anyone curious about the infield fly rule, if there&apos;s runners on first and second base, and the batter hits a popup in the infield it&apos;s an automatic out whether or not it&apos;s caught. I believe the reason for the rule is that if the infielder drops the ball on purpose, the runners would have to advance, which basically makes it a guaranteed double play, since the infielders are all so close to the bases
