That was a REAL story. Stallone got it from a vet talking about his buddy who got blown up

The greatest decision this movie made was turning Rambo into a good person instead of a villain like the novel

He has won an Oscar in all our hearts, we felt what soldiers felt after the war. Perfect movie to describe ptsd.

His performance is legendary <br>My uncle was in the army <br>Never talked about his experience in Vietnam until the year 2000 <br>Ptsd is no freakin joke <br>If those damn sheriffs would've left him alone instead of playing cowboy heroes none of this would've happened

At the time this movie was released, most civilians didn't understand this scene, but for the survivors of that bull#@it conflict, it hit home. My older brother was killed in Nam.

I don’t remember what TV show it was, but they voted Sylvester Stallone the worst actor of the 80s, and they used this scene to prove it. Apparently, their idea and my idea of bad acting are two different things.

3 things that really makes this scene stand out.<br> 1. The story about Danforth is real. Stallone got it from a vet he talked to before doing the film.<br> 2. Troutmans actors emotions here are probably pretty real considering he himself is a WW2 vet.<br> 3. The original ending of both the book and the pre-release film had Rambo die in the end of this scene.<br>And a bonus 4th about the film in general <br> 4. The Sheriff is a Korean War vet in the book (and the film given his medals on his desk) and that's a good chunk of the reason he hates Rambo. He came back and was "forgotten" but Rambo's war gets "all the attention" and as we can see from his actions he's a glory hound.

One of the first movies to give the Vietnam vets a voice. This movie put every one of those lousy bastards that treated them so badly on blast. I never miss a chance to tell a Vietnam vet welcome home. They will thank you humbly.
