Having spent holidays there for decades, I must admit that there are signs of the tourism offering gradually declining over time. But if you spend some real time among the locals, there is a certain vibe and warmth that is incredibly captivating — something you simply won’t find anywhere else in the world.<br>I would move there in a heartbeat.

I visit around 4 to 5 times a year for the last 4 years and love it. I don't stay at resorts though, but with friends in grande Baie. As far as I'm concerned the less I see people the better.

It is the drug distribution centre of the Indian ocean & their financial/banking system lacks basic controls. A premium place for financal scams. There have been many.

This account of Mauritius is bias in many respects , the number of shopping malls developed and expanding is a sign of growth , these malls are buzzing , having been there it appears the country has chosen diversity of its economy , and not focus on tourism only .....
