Led Zeppelin is one of the most successful rock group. Great creativity and outstanding musicians.

I had a similar experience with a Jazz Professor (who played with Myles Davis) at a prestigious music school, attached to my university. He was talking about musical time complexity and how "Rock" music lacked it compared to Jazz. I mentioned Rush as example of musical complexity in Rock. The time change complexity along with the musical virtuoso of the band. Giving Dr. Rozzi his credit, he did actually listen to a few suggested selections and agreed days later.

It's like a film based on a true story. Some elements are invented, but the main purpose is the creativity and the knowledge of music theory applied to modern music. Perhaps some people will go deeper in the study of harmony because of things like that. I liked it even it was obvious that the story was invented.

May is now a professor of astrophysics - for real. Not many rockers can handle that sort of knowledge domain

At one point in my electrical engineering career, my boss called me out in a status meeting because my PCB layouts were “so pretty”. He was being derogatory. What he was really saying was that I was taking too long and that I didn’t need to spend so much time refining the nuances of a good board layout.
Turns out, my boards ran twice as fast as his did, and were far more robust, and manufacturable.
Fast forward a mere few months, I not only gained his respect, but after that, he gave me his toughest projects.

Trying to reduce Kashmir to merely it's chord progression is insane.

Well done except the dates are wrong. Kashmir didn't come out until 1975 as most Zep fans would know. So that conversation could not have happened in '73.

the thing about rock music (and maybe other categories) is that a lot of these guys function as though they had phds in the field
