I was enlisted and lived in the barracks for 2 and a half yrs. Not bad but.. Then I applied for and went to OCS. After graduation and being assigned to my 1st duty station, my living qtrs immediately improved to a suite with private bath/shower and a very small mini kichenette. Thought I was in Heaven. I had a friend who was a Captain and his qtrs were bigger. I did not stay in. Got out after 6 with a 1st lewie rank. Had I reenlisted, I was told part of the reenlistment was an automatic captainship. And I was a good soldier.But I wanted to become a civilian criminal lawyer. And thats what I did. Because of my service, Law School was Free. Colonels and Generals live very good. But they also work very hard.
