  I got a free Arabian after the market fell. He was a door prize for the farm&apos;s open house (a weanling at the time). A friend of a friend won him. Offered him to my friend because they didn&apos;t want him. My friend suggested me because she didn&apos;t want him, either. My horse at the time was 20 years old and I figured a weanling would be perfect to raise as a replacement when my horse had to be retired. So, I got a horse that turned out to be one of the best horses I&apos;ve ever known, for free. He unfortunately colicked at 22 years old and died on the operating table. The vet said there was really nothing that could be done, but I&apos;m still devastated by his loss. (And that was15 years ago.)

  My father raised Morgans. I found them to be the &nbsp;best all around horse. They&apos;re intelligent, gentle, and incredibly strong.

  I&apos;ve owned two <br>akhal-Tekes, and the most important thing they taught me was that you can&apos;t let them see you do anything you don&apos;t want them to know how to do, not even once.

  I returned recently from the Spanish Riding School at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. There were over 200 Andalusian stallions stabled there, but not one snort, not one whinny or scream. Very docile, alert, cooperative horses. And the most fabulous of performers. A foundation breed for so many performance horses. I was in Heaven.

  I have a five year old TB gelding. Truthfully, he’s smarter than my two Arabians. He never spooks—ever. He stares at me; he brings me little gifts, and he learns super fast, but so do my Arabians. He also has a very sweet, calm disposition.

  The kindest, most willing, unflappably horse I&apos;ve ever worked with was an Andalusian stallion. It was almost easy to forget he was a stallion. He was deep. He wanted to be a partner, he would&apos;ve been happy to be carried in my pocket.

  We had a wonderful Palomino Quarter Horse. We rescued him at 8 yrs. We had him 30yrs! Fabulous fellow!

  I had my part arab for 31 years, high energy and super intelligent, &nbsp;he was my friend. lost him last February and still miss him.

  I had an Arabian. I’m a very high energy person but once we got to know each other we were a great team . Also, I was a rank amateur. But I trail broke him myself and spent much time learning much about myself through him. He was one of the greatest blessings of my life, other than my children.
