My wife was a tour guide way way way back in the day. She said she was trained to say "nanaji" because sometime "shichiji" could sound like "ichiji". Also she was trained to say "nakasyoku" instead of "chuusyoku"when talking to colleagues so that the "chuusyoku" wouldn't be confused with "chousyoku", especially on the phone.

2년전에 갔던 히로시마현의 오노미치네요. 다시보니까 너무 반갑습니다. 올라갈 때는 로프웨이를 이용했지만 내려올 때는 고양이길로 내려왔었는데, 진심으로 아름다운 곳이었습니다. 先生、いつも元気でいてください。 次の映像を楽しみにしています。🙇🏻♀️

During our visit to Onomichi, it was very fortunate to have a crystal clear sunny day which made the viewpoint absolutely incredible. We walked a portion of the temple walk. Gorgeous, almost magical. In the evening, we were stunned by a vibrant purple sunset. It seemed like half the town stopped to admire it. Could not have been a better day. Onomichi was one of the top highlights of the trip. Hope to see it again someday.

I pause the video regularly and although I have been using English subtitles, I am starting to be able to understand using Japanese subtitles only. I feel like I'm getting close to understanding about 30-40% of what is being said in these videos. I can't wait to make it 100%. They're really a lifesaver right now as well, since my Japanese teacher is on summer break. They allow me to still practice!
