  Bruce's physicality and the research in different martial arts, completely eclipses the notion of him being an actor first and martial artist second.  He may have acted first, but martial arts was most definitely his first passion, by his dedication and training..

  It was great to hear an interview with Matt from someone who knows about Bruce Lee. Felt like a real conversation.<br><br>The best part of his book has been the bibliography to help me with my own research on Bruce Lee. Great book &amp; great interview!

  Loved this episode. Brought back memories of living and teaching in Hong Kong. Always loved going to the Bruce Lee exhibit at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. One of the things in the exhibit that was highlighted which Matt said here was Bruce’s career as a child star. Never realized he made all those films as a kid. Also, wanted to shout out Matt’s book American Shaolin. Not just a martial arts book, but also a great cultural analysis. Finally, hear that Matt is working on a new book about George Carlin. Hope to read that one day too.

  Something I got from re-reading Matthew Polly&apos;s book was in the very beginning, when he described Bruce&apos;s 2nd funeral and subsequent burial in Seattle. I&apos;d forgotten that the late Jesse Glover, Bruce&apos;s friend, first American student and himself a certified badass... stayed behind to shovel the dirt into the grave. &nbsp;Jesse and Bruce had a falling out, but from what I understand, Bruce still respected Jesse&apos;s skill and Jesse still respected Bruce&apos;s abilities.<br><br>Jesse still loved his teacher and friend. Thank you, Matt, for your book, and thank you Alex, for this interview.
