How Did Ancient Egyptians Survive Without Glasses? How did people in ancient Egypt deal with bad eyesight thousands of years before glasses were invented? What happened when an Egyptian scribe could no longer read small hieroglyphs, or when age and disease began to affect their vision? In this video, we explore the fascinating truth about eyesight in ancient Egypt and how ancient Egyptians lived without modern eyeglasses, optometry, or corrective lenses. We’ll look at ancient Egyptian medicine, eye diseases, the Ebers Papyrus, specialized eye physicians, Egyptian kohl, and the practical ways people adapted to declining vision.
