  "Train Whistle" is a saxophone. You can hit your hip with a tambourine. This may be called "Easy Listening Rock".

  Al Stewart's music was ahead of the world music genre, much like Paul Simon's later solo work.

  Oh my goodness, I have been a huge Al Stewart fan since the early 70s and I love seeing new people discover his music like you guys are doing here.<br><br>You are the first reactors I have seen who really got in there and dissected the lyrics and production sound. <br><br>Please, please please continue exploring Al&apos;s catalog. It certainly changes through the years, and as I mentioned elsewhere in this reply thread, &nbsp;I would especially recommend 2 later albums &quot;Between the Wars&quot; and &quot;Famous Last Words&quot;, which came long after his mainstream fame had come and gone, are both fantastic.

  I would classify Al Stewart&apos;s music as singer-songwriter with a little step into rock and progressive rock sometimes.<br><br>Nonna mentioned that this is the kind of music where you can just put on the album and lay back and listen. That is exactly what I did in the 70s. I had my first pair of headphones, and put on this album and Year of the Cat and just lay there with my eyes closed and drifted along. No drugs or anything needed to get me into my vibe.<br><br>The instrument Nonna was describing was a tambourine

  What you two are in awe of is the magic of having an adept producer and recording engineer. Alan Parsons is the maestro here, creating the effortless soundscape that takes the listener on the musical journey. A good producer works with the artist and their composition, something that&apos;s sadly missing in most modern music today. Stewart used Parsons on the Year of the Cat album as well.
