  I love the side plot where Pleakley’s innocent love for nature turns into horrified outrage as he is assaulted by mosquitoes, sharks, and an octopus.

  Something that hit me on my latest rewatch is that when Sitch leaves and says &quot;Lost&quot; to the forest, is because in the book he has the duckling says the same and in the next page its parents find him. He&apos;s hoping against all logic that by doing the same his parents will find him. <br><br>To me this movie is a masterpiece. &nbsp;The level of small subtle details is amazing.

  Stitch grabbing Nani&apos;s leg in fright while they&apos;re surfing should have been a win because the soft look she gives him is so wonderful; it&apos;s the first moment we see her sympathizing with him as another frightened orphan who needs protecting, rather than just a nuisance.

  Something that struck me as incredible on a recent rewatch was the ending.<br>This movie takes place over a measly four days. Stitch stood before a court of law, an unstoppable genetic weapon asked if he could be reasoned with, and his first words were a string of profanity so vile it made a robot throw up.<br>Three earth days later, probably just the time it took the grand councilwoman to get there, she meets Stitch for a second time, speaking politely, knowing what a family is, having a family at that, and willing being arrested if it meant that family could stop being bothered by aliens.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X2FgiMm2Dg&amp;t=295">4:55</a> <b>huge</b> missed opportunity to talk about <b>why</b> Lilo does this. yeah, it’s to show she’s a bit odd- but it’s also because tourists tend to treat natives like attractions, taking photos and ogling with no consideration for the fact they’re literally just people. it’s Lilos way of getting back at that. “you want to treat me like some kind of attraction? fine. i’ll make <b>you</b> the subject instead.”

  Remember: Jumba is Stitch’s <b>dad</b> and he does seem to consider himself that on some level. He relented so quick because a part of his was so happy Stitch was happy, because he wanted that for himself as well, and because <b>Stitch asked</b> <br><br>He relented so fast because he was always willing to put stuff aside for him, even if he wasn’t aware, Stitch just needed to actually communicate that. <br><br>Theres moments where he’s watching him actually become part of the family where he is looking almost tenderly at Stitch growing. <br><br>And he fully becomes the grandfather later, dressing up as santa and making toys for Lilo.

  When you&apos;re younger, you simply watch for the zany characters, vivid animation, and fun story. But as an adult, you realise just how stressful Nani&apos;s situation is. Her bedroom is filled with surfing trophies, indicating her transition from a carefree teenager, to Lilo&apos;s primary guardian. Lilo&apos;s line of &quot;I liked you more as a sister than a mom&quot; really hammers this home.

  It&apos;s kinda symbolic that it rains immediately after Stitch crash lands on Earth. Lilo&apos;s angel arriving just seconds before it rains, it&apos;s as if the rain is meant to represent that a big change in Lilo&apos;s life is about to happen, the first time it was losing her parents, but this time it&apos;s Lilo gaining another family through Stitch, Jumba &amp; Pleakley.
