For whatever reason, Chloe got restless and chose to look for something `better`with her mother`s assistance. She claimed she needed space to work out her own issues but wanted OP to remain her safety net in case that `better` thing didn`t work out. It didn`t because the other man she chose to share her solitude with wasn`t financially viable. OP was not stupid and he had too much pride to stay around waiting for crumbs from a straying, long time girlfriend. He handled the disconnect from the flighty woman in a very calm and sensible manner. He is so much better off without Her.
