Ok story. Interesting, enjoyable, well-written (until roughly the 80% mark, the ending just goes on and on) ... The trouble is although the story technically has an arc, and there is closure, it feels like a lot of words for 2/3rds of a story, with the middle third missing. Not enough 'happens' in the story to justify the duration of reader attention. As a story draft - excellent. As a story - not there yet.

I would have thought their fleet would be bigger after 6000 years. That's also a long time to go without a collapse or the ability to produce their I own pharmaceutical infrastructure. After 6000 years they gave up without a fight. That was convenient.
