  As a Canadian, I’ve never heard of that law, I’d be arrested by the age of eight. We still celebrate Halloween and watch magical movies/shows but yeah, I’ve never heard of that law till now.

  As a norwegian i have to say something about Longyearbyen. There are many rules and criterias you have to meet for living there. 1. You have to have somewhere to live on the mainland for norwegians(Same for foreeigners). If you dont have a address in example Tromsø or any other place on mainland of Norway(or you home country) you wont get to live on Svalbard. You dont have to use it, but in the event of you getting sick to the point where you may need urgent care that not can be provided on Svalbard (The hospital on Svalbard is not really a hospital, no ICU units etc) you have to have a address where you can return to if you no longer can live on Svalbard. You also have to have a large enough income to be able to take care of yourself. if you do not move there due to a job-offer.
