Thanks for your review. My F800ST was a 2007 model year that I bought pre-owned in the spring of 2008. My 'first' bike following years of having none. My impressions - first it has ABS. This should be essential on every motorcycle. It will save your butt and perhaps your life on a panic stop situation (zero rear wheel lockup). But even with ABS this bike has almost unbelievable stopping capability. Second - it has a hydraulic steering damper. You will not notice it's there under any turn conditions, but you will not get the sometimes occurring curse of steering wobble which can result in a crash. Third - the Rotax engine will last forever. It is smooth as silk because it has an internal balance which operates opposite the vertical motion of the two pistons. Almost zero vibration which is rare for a two banger. Fourth - the fuel tank is not way up on top of the bike like most bikes but is below the seat. Lowers the center of gravity improving turn response. Last - the belt drive - smooth as silk, quiet and no adjustments required. Beats the primitive chain drive all hollow. Now the negatives - the biggest is the front fork which has a truly primitive support system. It needs help to control and properly damp the vertical motion. Check out the HyperPro variable rate spring kit. Easy to install, and the turn-in character of this bike is vastly improved especially on bumpy roads. And the seat - not the most comfortable at least for my skinny butt. In sum, I loved it. Nicely done, BMW.

I've got a 2015 F800 Gt. you need to take those bar risers off! and it does come alive at the very top of it's rev range... but until then, it is highly dependable and predictable... I live on the Cumbrian Coast and it handles the twisty bits well.. But, each to their own..

I’m boring… I had a diversion, wanted a Fazer and am considering buying an F800ST or a Honda Deauville😂😂😂

Next bike should be a street triple. Get an aftermarket windscreen and it's the perfect bike.

After watching I'm still not sure why it's boring? Is it because it's handling? The sewing machine sounding engine? Just asking for a friend.

I was looking to buy this version or the GT version this year. I was wanting to go on some long distant ride here where I live in the states. I currently ride an SV650 as a commuter and I love that bike and don’t plan to get rid of it. But after seeing reviews like yours I’m now reconsidering.
Now that Suzuki is gonna release the SV7-GX which is basically a touring version of the SV650, I may buy that instead.
For one, that BMW engine note is something I couldn’t live with. Now the SV650 exhaust note is… chef kiss. And if you say that the handling isn’t really up to snuff, the SV chassis is so good people track those bikes all over the world.
Thanks, you just convinced me to get the SV7- GX.
