Andrew is correct in pointing out that putting illiquid private equity and private credit at make-believe valuations in people’s pension accounts is like opening henhouse to the foxes to pilfer

in 2009 i did not know andrew ross sorkin and was on my 4th year at merrill lynch as a young man on wall street. i lived 2008 crisis from the epicenter. the book too big to fail amazed me and still does. i thought “this andrew guy is super impressive and not that much older than me”. now i have been watching him on squawk box every am since 2011. hes super smart and impressive, very valuable to the finance and wall street communities.

awesome interview-I will definitely be looking for more interviews that you guys do on book authors and bubble history and other interesting topic so thank you very much. This was a great interview. I saw Andrew on 60 Minutes. I didn’t know he was so deep in knowledge and information and passion. I’m definitely looking forward to reading his book and also some of the books that he mentioned that inspired him as a younger reader.

Excellent interview! Speaking of leverage, I hear more and more about these buy now pay later services. They are completely unregulated and people are ending up in serious debt. Perhaps I'm just thinking in terms of parallels as well!

A genuinely interesting and informative episode. Some of these guests really start to bore with the way they speak and deliver information, but Andrew Sorkin is obviously the real deal!

25:47 a very similar thing happened on Mt. Gox in the April 2013 crash. You could put in an order and it wouldn't hit the order book for over an hour. I remember submitting a sell-all order and experiencing pure angst as I waited for my order to execute. Sell orders beget sell orders, clogging up the queue and causing the price to burn down in slow motion. Wild days.
