I was the youngest son of a youngest son of 11 children. My Grandfather was retired from the railroad by the time I came into this world. 3 of my uncles had farms and at the age of 6, when school was out from 1st week of May until after labor day I was sent to one of them to work the farm with many of my cousins. The one one I generally worked was a dairy farm with 2 long buildings of 20 thousand chickens each to be sold to Cambell soup. My grandfather taught me how to fish, shoot, hunt, clean my game, cook ,take care of horses, cattle and of course the half dozen dogs that were always delighted see me arrive from my 400 mile journey. Painting, nailing, sawing , laying brick and rock was taught to me from an uncle that was in the CCC. I never heard my grandfather ever curse or raise his voice. He didn't need to. Everyone should him respect and accepted his authority. He passed on my 15th birthday. When our family arrived after a day long trip, I was promptly notified that I was to be Pallbearer along with some of my cousins. I had never done anything like this. But, grandpa had requested yrs earlier that if I was big enough to be one. I was not only a Pallbearer, but the lead calling the steps on that rocky Ozark ground. I didn't cry at the time, my father was military and I was always told to suck it up. But has I now lie here waiting for my time my tears are for grandpa. He made me a gentle respected God loving man. I am now alone. But, yet I am not. God bless everyone.

Thank you Mr. Cam, have spent the last weeks packing to move. It’s not so fun when you are older, your story was just the best thing I could ever ask for as I lay in my bed exhausted, ready for another day to finish packing. I’ll be so glad when this is over. I don’t ever want to move again!

I was captivated from start to finish. Your words are very clear to hear . I can hear, but can’t can make out a lot of the words. Your voice is very clear and strong and I was able to hear you and follow through the whole story. Thanks Cam…you’re a 10 in my opinion!😊

I enjoyed that story more than any story in a very long time. The part about having everything crumble in your life at one time brought tears to my eyes, because I had a similar situation in 2019…very similar. I am not one to tear up but it hit a nerve. I found out something very terrible at the end of 2018, and then in 2019 my grandfather who I had been extremely close with all 34 years of my life passed away. I also lost my job. It’s crazy how this story hit me. I still haven’t fully climbed out of this hole that it all caused … but I’m trying by the grace of God.
