I worked and lived in Athens from 2013 to 2016. I traveled the entire country many times, and many of the wonderful islands. Your 3 days in Athens was about perfect. You hit all the biggies. The Acropolis museum is expensive but world-class. Their museum restaurant with views is amazing and cheap. Another highlight near Athens is the Temple of Posidien. Incredible. Acropolis with ocean views and a nice beach. The Greek islands are the real gem, avoid Mykinos and Santorini. Crete needs almost a week very nice. Any other islands by ferry are incredible. Naxos, Hydra, Spetes, Tinos, Patmos, and on and on. Just take the ferries. No cruise necessary. The Greek people are the best part of the smaller islands, with less tourists you can interact easily.

Thanks for sharing! can't believe anyone would tell you to skip Athens? I went to Athens years ago it was amazing. I would go back in a heartbeat. Glad you guys had fun. All that history and the food. cheers ☕☕🍝🍝🤠
