  Hjalmar Schacht at least understood that money is simply an accounting system, not a commodity.

  One of my favourite anecdotes about the Nuremberg trial concerns Schacht.....<br>At the very beginning of the trial, he said to his guard (Schacht spoke fluent English)<br>&quot;Young man!! Do you know why I am here?&quot;<br>&quot;Sure....you&apos;re an indicted war criminal on trial for war crimes!&quot;<br>&quot;NO!! I am here, so that your Mr.Justice Jackson will have at least ONE defendant, who will be acquitted, to show the world that this is a fair trial!&quot;<br><br>How&apos;s that for confidence?

  This is one of the better documentaries on the topic. It covers some of the essential aspects of the corrupt false economy.

  I am grateful for the title of this video. The illogical economic practices of all out war are little recognized in our modern times. More attention needs to be drawn to the economic ambiguity that war produces

  Brilliant docu - I didn&apos;t know about the financial instruments they used to kick-start industry. The IOU&apos;s were called MEFO&apos;s and had a 4% interest per year... most were never repaid and apparently were liquidated after the war at a fraction of what they were supposed to be valued at - definitely a kind of drug for the economy, boost now, pay later.

  foreign entities provided indirect support. For instance, the Bank of England reportedly transferred 5.6 million pounds worth of gold belonging to Czechoslovakia to the Nazi regime in 1939. Additionally, American companies like Ford and IBM have been noted for aiding the regime&apos;s operations
