I am with you. I don't use them either. When I hunted unit 79 I might. You can identify an Elk easily at 3/4 mile. If I am guiding another hunter I will carry a range finder. I try to minimize weight. Still I normally have a good bit of weight on my back. Last thing I need is a brick hanging around my neck.

Lightweight harnesses do exist, sig Zulus are pretty light weight. Dont decorate it like a Christmas tree. They were created as a solution to having Binos just hanging from your neck bouncing around. Love mine

I use binos mainly hog hunting. Ill focus them into wood line usualy find simething 8 to 10 foot into tree line snd focus a sharper image. This actualy helps spot into brush .
