I remember when Magnavox T-995 chassis suffered from flaky pin connections. And soldering on the module sockets and pins was sometimes an issue within a few years old.. Even saw this problem with a 4 month old T-995 and in warranty. I was a junior tech at a Magnavox dealer. (the soldering on that chassis was a miracle it passed QC). After the second service call, Magnavox replaced the set with a new one (same exact) and much better set. They took care of the customer. Magnavox had a help line staffed with factory techs, to help dealer techs. They were great to deal with. And parts were prompt (often next day).

Also, just went through my notes on Magnavox Color TV. In the 1970-1974 era, Magnavox changed resistor suppliers. In horizontal stages, they were known trouble causes on Maggy sets. Those resistors were very "Drift-O-Matic" in the day . They were everywhere in Magnavox's.

They used that same VRT/resonating capacitor setup that Zenith used. We had some odd troubles with those as well. I dealt with all or most of the things you mentioned. Particularly with Sony where the soldering looked good but once you heated the connection the solder moved away and revealed tarnished copper indicating there was no or poor bonding. Zenith Dura Module sets by the ton. And how about Sears sets made by Sanyo where one of the scan derived supply diode leads were barely through the holes and hardly made a connection! I've seen them all---Admiral to Zenith!

Yep, I had to service my zenith dura module set every few years. But it had the best picture in the house!

Hi Jordan, I sold many of these T995 chassis Magnvox sets in the 70s. They were the best performing chassis . You have a IF gain problem. The set should have lots of snow with no signal. For a width problem make sure the proper value of safety cap is installed. To large a value cap will stretch the picture and lower the HV. Also the TO5 voltage regulator transistor on the bottom front of the chassis likes to short out . The regulated high B+ should be 130V . The other To5 power transistor regulates the 24V for the IF and most of the rest of the modules. If my 73 year old memory has it right, the IF board uses 4 leg dual Gate mosfets. Also in the tuner. Any one of those I have seen give very poor gain like your set appears to have. On those resistors that you replaced. The one low ohm resistor with the first color band being wider then the rest is wire wound. They can look cooked and still be perfectly fine. Smash it with pliers to see if I am correct! Al / KD0EXE <br>I hope I have helped a bit
