There's A Problem With Fallout 2

If you haven't read the Vault Dweller's Memoir, I think it explains why Arroyo is the way it is. It's mostly a recap of the first game's events, but it also contains many personal thoughts. The thoughts he shares tell me that he specifically did NOT want to build another society like the one he came from; a society that would exile their savior because they felt the world outside the vault had changed him too much. He didn't want to build another society that seemed to care so much about clinging to the ways of a long-dead past that they were surely doomed to eventually die themselves.

FUN FACT: Nowadays the memoir is arguably a piece of deep lore that most newer players don't even know about unless actively look for it; it was actually the first thing in the original print manual after the install instructions. There's a real sense of irony reading the first paragraph of the memoir today...it's a relic of a bygone era both in-universe and in reality:

"The one good thing about growing old is that you get your way. The new leaders of the Tribe (they refuse to call themselves Elders until I have passed on, which should be soon, if I'm lucky) want me to record my knowledge for future generations. Bah! What knowledge they need is to be found with sweat and blood, not some letters on a page. But the future is a great unknown, and they may have a point. To make them happy, I've written down what I feel will be important. (The important words being "what I feel will be important.")"

You really shouldn't sleep on Tactics. It's light on story but actually does some fun things with lore (see vehicles) that I wish they'd keep.

Speaking of which, best of luck in the hyperbolic paraboloid of hunting for a car.

25:00 letting you know, Arcanum , the game made by Tim Caine and Boyarski back in 2001 , you can talk through the final boss. Also you can disable random encounters during traveling the map.

One big problem with the game is that it does hidden speech checks without telling you that they are even happen.
So you can lock yourself out of an option without even realizing it.

Another is how dangerous it is to travel.
One encounter with a supermutents is enough to make you reload your save

Thing is you can get a car to travel faster.

hearing rik mayall's voice in the opening shocked the hell out of me, in a welcome way. hyperbolic paraboloid
if you haven't, go to broken hills and speak with typhon. he has a really hilarious quest for you.
the enclave killed those vaulties in the intro because they thought it looked cool. no seriously. oh yes also in settings you could have made it so you dont have to click to move as much, i forget what the setting is called but it is there.

i really like the point you made about hyperbolic paraboloid, and overall the video is really well produced!

Kingdom Come Deliverance does one over more: on Hardcore difficulty, you can't see yourself on the map and have to know where you are based on location and can't fast travel (aside from missions that force you to). Hardcore on first playthrough is awesome if a bit harder. Get Somnambulist negative trait for even more shenanigans.
Also, Frank could've been dealt without violence (by you). You can hack the turrets on the encounter for them to kill him for you.

You found the unique energy weapon in that special encounter with time travel reference, right?

The hyperbolic paraboloid holds a unique place in geometry and applied science because it embodies the surprising harmony between simplicity and complexity. Although its surface appears continuously curved, it is actually doubly ruled, meaning it can be formed entirely from straight lines. This paradox—straight lines generating a curved saddle—has profound implications. In mathematics, the surface illustrates how curvature behaves, serving as a canonical example of negative Gaussian curvature and helping students and researchers understand saddle points, optimization landscapes, and the behavior of functions with opposing principal curvatures.
