  Poor Maya having to put up with him for another couple of weeks. Great story, well acted. Kind of depressing that people are running from what could be fulfilling experiences and then lying to themselves.

  Maya was engaging this man like a mature person interested in dating. The men in this piece could have been better written, the piece deserved that. The protagonist was indecisive, immature though clearly with a good paying position but good pay doesn’t make you an adult. “In 2-3 weeks, I’ll let her do it.” If you’re not interested or if things are moving too fast, communicate that. When we aren’t honest about where we are, we undermine the other person’s agency given that Maya for example is making decisions as if the two are on the same page. This was so frustrating. I get that this is sometimes how dating happens and stories that reflect that are important. And at the same time, hard pass <b>on the behavior of the characters.</b> Hopefully the creators of this piece keep producing work and work towards nuancing the writing.
