  IMO the better plan: plant your flag in a Cebu City condo, then visit the Philippine islands to your heart&apos;s content. That gives you the benefits of both worlds (big city living, four-day getaways to the remote island resorts).

  I hear that Siquijor has one of the WORST power grids in the PI... I agree that it is a supremely beautiful place and I would love to live there as well, but not until they improve the power grid situation. You may be able to be on solar or some other off-grid option, but that still doesn&apos;t account for the businesses/restaurants that need power to operate. Thanks for such great content, Chad.

  I learned my lesson about these is islands during my visit to Siargao. &nbsp; I got a bronchial chest infection and there&apos;s no hospital on the island and all the doctor could provide was hrrbal remedies when I needed &nbsp;strong antibiotic treatment as I have previous health issues that could&apos;ve gone very badly. &nbsp;But no, my island days are over from now on unless there&apos;s a decent hospital.

  It’s a very beautiful place for a week visit but not for months. Retired people need a place where fast access to the hospital is important. Cebu still central to any travel mood you want. Still surrounded from close to neighboring islands and sometimes you need a city vibe.

  I’ve lived on Siquijor for 14 months and just renewed my lease. Everything is difficult here, especially finding a good residence and finding groceries. From time to time I experience small island fever. Living in a busy tourist spot is tiring at times and I think the culture is dominated by the players in the tourist community. Most of the island negatives have been mentioned elsewhere. The ex pat community seems heavily weighted toward Europeans, Dumaguete feels more American oriented. Definitely worth a visit, I recommend you do so in the low season it can be overwhelming in high season.

  Here in Davao!! &nbsp;Nobody talks about Davao. &nbsp;However it&apos;s great. Easily the most drivable( by car), city in the Philippines. &nbsp;So clean here! And safe! Mountains nearby and here in the beach. Amenities of Makati without the high cost!!!

  Siquijor has huge power issues currently. No electricity, no water. Everyone complaining about it there. Until its fixed permanently think twice.

  Siquijor Island is so peaceful to live and so beautiful! The sunset, the water falls, the Pitogo cliff and the siquijor plaza is just unique and etc.. There&apos;s another booming tourist destination also in the northern part of Iloilo, which is my hometown Concepcion! You must visit there!
