I like how Andor (series) actually listened to Obi-Wan's words and made the stormtroopers accurate again. And also how Rogue One explained in-universe plot amor (I'm one with the Force and the Force is with me, while Death Trooper is double checking his barrel while firing and missing, because he can't belive he missed that easy shot).

the Stormtroopers on DS-1 missed on purpose so Vader could track the Falcon heading to Yavin IV

Stormtroopers never catches a break of being the schmucks who exist to miss their shots and get beat up by the heroes and their friends.

3:14 Syril does not understand what his real job is at Preox-Morlana. Syril thinks he works in law enforcement, but his main job is actually to keep the money flowing for the corporation and for the Empire.

I always found it funny that in almost every interaction between Stormtroopers and civilians/Rebels the Stormtrooper would say "Stop, hands up." The rebels just started shooting, showing that the Stormtroopers were actually 'following the rules of engagement' in trying to maintain the law.

4:41 Chief Hyne understood that his job wasn’t to enforce the law, his main job was to keep the money flowing, to look the other way when the brothel was operating, to quietly reprimand and shuffle off officers who chronically abuse their power or get drunk on the job, and to make sure that the Empire had no reason to visit.

Originally, Stormtroopers were meant to be marines in classic sense of "soldiers trained in boarding & repelling boarding of ships" - which is why they favor rush tactics with small arms, light armor and using nothing but smoke as cover. They excel at this, as seen on the Tantive 4 where they wipe out the entire defense force with minimal losses. This is not what one needs for ground combat, however, which is why the Imperial Army had all the big guns & walkers. Over time as the IA got replaced entirely with Stormtroopers they lost their focus and in trying to do everything they only became bad at everything.

Stormtroopers were never useless. The Stormtroopers killed just about everything they went up against, EXCEPT the force sensitive heroes. Jawas, Aliens, Rebel Troopers, Ewoks, Civilians, everything died to Stormtrooper blaster fire EXCEPT the heroes.

What people don't realize is when it comes to 70s and 80s action characters/enemies never aim their weapons, they were more bent on flashy action then tactics

Unfortunately this got turned into a meme that unfortunately Disney/Lucasfilm embraced as canon

I really hate this "Stormtroopers are useless" meme. In the original movies, the stormtroopers are sometimes literally ordered to not kill the heroes. In "A New Hope" we even have THREE characters point that out to the audience. Two on the bad guy's side (Tarkin and Vader) and one on the good guy's side (Leia). In "Empire" we have Vader laying a trap for Luke, having stormtroopers herd Luke, not shoot him, towards the carbon freezing chamber. In other battles, like aboard the Tantive IV and on Endor's big final battle, the Stormtroopers are killing rebels and ewoks left and right.

It was a funny joke "hah hah, stormtroopers can't aim" when it was just the original trilogy, but now fans take it seriously and even Disney has leaned into it. It's not funny anymore, it's just an an example of media illiteracy gone out of control.

I always assumed there were two kinds of stormtroopers.
1. A smaller number of actual stormtroopers, such as those that stormed Tantive and deliberately missed on the Death Star.

2. Low tier trained national guard type ish, with costume armor. Reason is that all stormtrooper is the same with no markings so an opponent never knew if they were facing an elite unit or not. This last part is mentioned as why the armor all looks the same. And its cheaper.
It plays directly into the Tarkin Doctine of rule through fear rather than competence.

18:33 "The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear..."
