  perch, bass, pike, and even bowfin (choupique), are all great table fare if prepared properly. There are ways to clean the pike without the bones.

  Northern can be delicious if you catch a big enough one and if you can get the bones out, it’s one of my favorites in the winter!

  When I filet northern, I first start with cutting off a whole side filet like you normally would, and remove the skin. Then, I cut the back strap off which has no bones in it. There is a layer of pin bones on what&apos;s left, that can then be cut along like you&apos;d do along the ribs. Discard the bony cut, and you&apos;re left with a nice flat filet and a back strap. Smoked over Applewood is my favorite way to prepare, or, the backstrap makes for a great beer battered fish fry.

  Bass as closely related to Bluegill which is absolutely delicious people start rumors about bass not being good because they don&apos;t want you to catch the bass and eat them
