I've always enjoyed Ms. Heaton's work. Now, I have a completely newfound respect for her. Not because of her beliefs, but because of how she handled being an outsider. Much respect.

Ironic that Hollywood made all those movies blasting that actors were blacklisted during the Joseph McCarthy years, then turn around and do what they said was so bad to conservatives or non liberals.

I’m an MD and I learned to keep my mouth shut in hospital. Till around 5-6 years ago you could have an interesting exchange of viewpoints with colleagues. Now if you don’t bandy the rainbown around it’s social death.

During this time I worked for a fortune 500 company and I was asked not to weat a cross pendant charm on a neckless. I came in the next day wearing it my boss said we talked about this. I said you will have to fire me and then I will sue you. She never mentioned it again.

I recognise exactly what Patricia says about FOA, I worked in the head office of large British charity where it increasingly became more and more liberal, eventually those of us who kept quiet about having conservative views knew each other but didn't voice our views.
