The footage is real. Elvis's career began before he entered the army. After the army he went into movies before his 1968 comeback when he returned to performing, what he truly wanted to do. People say he was the king of rock n roll, country, gospel and other genres. Elvis was simply The King. His live performances from the early 70's are classic. He had fun with the music, the audience and his back up singers. In his live shows you will also notice him doing moves on stage that come from his karate training. The women loved him and the men all wanted to be him.

Elvis was indeed in the military, drafted in 1958. He was already a big star... his female fans literally lost their minds when they put out footage of them shaving off his beautiful hair. ♥

Elvis was drafted in 1958 and got his training at Fort Hood in Texas and was sent to Frankfurt, Germany for the 2 years he was in the Army. He was already famous and they wanted to allow him to entertain the troops during his enlistment.He refused and wanted to be treated as a regular soldier. He was in the Armored division and drove tanks. He brought his family to Germany and rented a house. Some of his " Memphis Mafia" were some of his Army buddies! He made lifelong buddies while in the Army. A side note, my husband was in the Army and stationed in Frankfurt when Elvis died. The German people loved Elvis just as much as America. German people were standing in the streets across from miltary bases crying with signs held up expressing their compassion and sorrow. It was on German TV. His funeral was aired in real time on German TV and it was MONTHS before German ladies began getting over his death. He was well loved there. This is actual footage of Elvis leaving Germany and going home to the US. If you look closely a young teen aged Priscilla is in the crowd seeing him off and crying.

Elvis became famous in 54. He was drafted into the army in 58. He stayed 2 years. His mother passed in 58. This is video of him leaving Germany going back to his home Graceland in Memphis 1960! His world was crushed over his mother passing.

Hi honey I am a 65 year older lady and I’m a big elvis fan and everything yu are feeling about Elvis voice looks is just awesome. Yu gotta read more about Elvis everything about him is amazing. Yes the smile will make yu melt honey anytime you need to know anything about Elvis I can tell yu everything. Yu definitely have to visit graceland

Elvis was in the Army 1958 -1960, stationed at Friedburg, West Germany. Yes, he was already famous, but Uncle Sam called him up, thankfully during peace times, not war times. Please keep in mind that Elvis never had a singing lesson in his life, yet listen to him sing here. He learned to do this by listening to Mario Lanza records (opera singer from back then). This song shot to #1 and stayed there for almost an entire year! I encourage you to continue your trek down the Elvis rabbit hole. You will only become more enriched for doing so.<br><br>I enjoyed your reaction, too, by the way!
