Fujimoto was taking 1 week or even 2 week breaks between chapters really often, like every 3 chapters at the very least, the common opinion is that he just got burned out of drawing in general, as he has expressed that he wants to write and for someone else to do the art, like gege with jjk módulo.

Also a bit of a translation error, when yoru said "want to find out" 19:15 it's more of a "want to do it again and see if you can guess which one it is" 😭

Usually mangaka have several chapters already completed before starting a serialization of a series. The issue is that due to the weekly or bi-weekly nature of publishing they will eventually catch up and will become behind on their deadlines which leads to overwork. Since before serialization they have more time to plan and draw a lot.

After a few years especially with little to no assistants can cause a mangaka to go on haituses or get sick from overwork. Some even die from health related issues due to drawing all day. I believe some only sleep a few hours like Oda with One Piece who reportedly slept only around 3 hours every day for many years. He also had an incomplete chapter published as a result. With Fujimoto it could be that and and a combination of burn out.

Affer all creating a series for several years is very difficult for most mangaka. They also have behind the scenes stuff going on especially if there's adaptations going on where the creator might be involved. Some of the art is incomplete during part 2 but if you look at promotional art he made for the live action Look Back you can tell he can still draw well. It's an evolution of his style but also time spent on it.
