As an Australian & an ex-serviceman, the senseless waste of this battle is a colossal tragedy. I don't agree with the allegations of cowardice thrown at the crews of these tanks by the Australian generals of the time, but I will blame the British generals who were told that these were not combat ready tanks, who knew that they had not been built to withstand even rifle fire (yes, there were soldiers in these tanks who were hit by machine gun & rifle bullets that penetrated the hulls of their vehicles), yet who still sent them in to battle. They are the true "villains" of this battle because in their desperation for a victory, they ignored the warnings & delivered yet another savage waste of lives.

Dr. Roberts should author an entire line of education. 20 minute classes, University quality information and can be used for credits earned.

I’m having flotation flashbacks! The number of seeds and charcoal I counted in a microscope is mind numbing.

My guess is that the slaves were buried headless because the Roman slave owners did not want their angry spirits to haunt them, by separating the head from the body the soul or spirit could not reanimate...:face-purple-wide-eyes:

Re decapitated slave burials - could it be part of Roman elites beliefs that the slaves weren't meant to be allowed into their accepted understanding of the afterlife? With the head separated from the body, might they be trying to keep slaves from the same 'rewards' after death that the elites anticipated as their right, but not the slaves?

35:00 Guilt is something that follows you. If the slave owners believed there was nothing wrong with what they were doing, there would be no reason to take these measures, even with a child. It is an admission slavery was, at the very least, so unfair it would make slaves angry enough to arise from the dead and seek revenge. This is an admission that you understand you have wronged someone.
