As a kid I thought people who'd get killed on-screen in movies were suicidal people volunteering to just get killed for a movie

I used to think movies were filmed in chronological order. The ending was filmed last, the beginning was filmed first, etc. When I learned they're filmed all over the place within the timeline, it blew my mind.

i used to think that when tv shows bleeped out swear words, only adults could hear the word and once i turned 21 i wouldn’t hear bleeps anymore i would hear the words

My dumbest assumption is about the song I saw Mommy kiss Santa Claus. It took me 25 years to finally click that she wasn't having an adulterous hook-up with a fictional character, which I always found wildly inappropriate as a Christmas song. And then one day, at 25 years of age, as I walk down the streets during the holidays as the song played it finally dawn on me. Omg... she didn't cheat on her husband with Santa.... her husband IS Santa disguised for the kid. 25 years it took for me to get that. 😂

13:11 To clarify, Greek and Roman statues were painted but had lost their colours by the Renaissance. Renaissance humanist artists inspired by the Classical statues didn't know about the paint and produced their art with just the colour of the marble itself. Michelangelo's David is from the Renaissance.

The biggest one is thinking you'll get in trouble for turning on the inside lights of your car while driving at night.

The dumbest thing I assumed as a kid was that for childhood flashback scenes, they were literally filming that actor as a child and then waiting 10+ years to continue filming the rest with the same actor as an adult. I was just impressed by the sheer dedication

I used to think Texas was just sand, cacti and tumbleweeds. No roads, buildings, houses. Just people on horseback and living in tents. My cousin went to Texas and reported back that there are indeed roads and houses.

This made me remember my wildest childhood belief which is that animals that were run over/ dead on the road had committed animal crimes and been sentenced to death and been executed using cars as a method.
