As a physicist, I think this channel might be the most well-balanced in explaining physics for people who already have some background

Simply the best explanation of the UV catastrophe and Planck's solution anywhere.

A masterpiece.  I never knew that Einstein had derived the existence of the photon from thermodynamics.  Your vid makes me appreciate his genius even more.

I can't thank you enough for fixing this ridiculous popular misconception. This thermodynamic argument is one of Einstein's greatest leaps of thought, and it is almost a mockery of his legacy to attribute the creation of photons to the throwaway section at the end on the photoelectric effect. The remainder of this comment is quibbles: the Wein regime is defined by the situation where the occupation number of a mode is either 0 or 1 with near certain probability, meaning that you can ignore indistiguishability. The reason Einstein focuses on this is because the formulas don't work for the full Planck distribution. This was only fixed by Bose and Einstein introducing Bose/Einstein statistics in the 1920s. Your manipulations are old-fashioned, you are following Einstein, these thermodynamic relations are done better today using partition function relationships that make the formulas self-evident. But overall, the single best video on this subject ever made, congrats.

As someone who is limited in his mathematical abilities and reasoning, I find your explanations very clear and concise, allowing me to get a grip of the principles without fully understanding the mathematics.

"We simply need to sum over all...", "then we simply integrate...", "we simply substitute...". Brother none of this is simple for me!

Great explanation! I haven't seen the story of finding E=hf so far. It really makes me think Einstein was an even greater genius than I’d imagined.
